Posted: Sat Mar 14, 2009 19:37 Post subject: WRT54G2: Wireless rate drops to 2 Mbps or 1 Mbps: Using a WRT54G2 flashed to v24-10709 micro, I set up a standard wireless access point network (channel set to auto, G-only, WPA2 Personal security). When I reboot the unit, the wireless rate is 54 Mbps.
This How-To is to install DD-WRT on a WRT54G2v1 without using any of the Linksys tftp programs. This would allow you to install DD-WRT from almost any correctly configured OS with a tftp client and ping program. Tftp the DD-WRT firmware to the router, use latest dd-wrt.v24_micro_generic.bin from the folder where you got these instructions; after successful tftp, wait 5 min for the router to finish writing new nvram Go to Administration->Firmware Upgrade and select 14929 dd-wrt.v24_mini_wrt54g.bin; Click Upgrade then when complete, wait FIVE FULL minutes If not successful, clear browser cache and repeat from step 6 Access the dd-wrt GUI at 192.168.1.1, and reset the router again At this point you can flash a different build, depending on your needs Dec 18, 2012 · I did install DD-WRT on my Linksys WRT54G2 V1 to gain more controls on this router. One of my main purpose is to set bandwith limit per MAC or per IP to all connected device using this firmware. Just to solve my problem on users that keeps hogging the network and downloading torrents all day that's why I decided to install DD-WRT.
